WordPress Plugin Really Simple SSL Announces Name and Logo Update

Popular WordPress plugin Really Simple SSL has rebranded to “Really Simple Security” as of version 9.0.

Reportedly used by millions of WordPress users, the plugin was originally launched by Rogier Lankhorst in 2015 as a solution to migrate WordPress sites to HTTPS/SSL, the more secure version of HTTP that is made noticeable by the appearance of padlock icon and “https://” in the browser.

Conversely, websites without a valid SSL certificate or with SSL configuration issues typically result in browsers displaying “insecure site” warnings, which then often leads visitors to leave websites straight away.

The revised name and logo is said to come on the back of new updates and security features that have been added to the plugin.

“Over time, we optimised the core SSL functionality in the plugin and we also expanded on the plugin’s original feature set,” writes Leon Wimmenhoeve, in a statement posted on the Dutch-headquartered company’s website.

Adding: “We started a two-year development process to deliver a lean and powerful, yet simple to use WordPress security plugin.”
