Japan’s MOMOTARO JEANS Rebrands, Unveils New Logo
Japanese denim label MOMOTARO JEANS has launched a new look as part of plans to expand its global reach.
Originally founded in 2006 in the Kojima district of Okayama prefecture – known as the birthplace of “Japanese Denim” – the company reportedly already has a presence in 26 countries and regions worldwide.
The latest rebrand, which has been created under the watch of Kaie Murakami and his branding consultancy SIMONE, also includes the opening of a brand new, architect-designed store – “MOMOTARO JEANS KYOTO” – located on Shinmonzen-dori in Kyoto (pictured below).
Additionally, a new brand website (momotaro-jeans.com) has gone live that has been designed to serve both as a sales channel and a branding tool.
The company’s refreshed logo, meanwhile, has been created by graphic designer and lecturer, Kazuki Kobayashi.
“The new brand logo design incorporates ‘Momotaro’, a symbol from folklore and folk crafts originating in Okayama, and the indigo flower motif, interpreting traditional Japanese emblems,” explains the firm.
There are also plans by the company to introduce new fabric developments that it is claimed will not only enhance the brand’s signature deep indigo “TOKUNO BLUE” but will also incorporate patterns “that emphasise timeless silhouettes”.
