Major League Rugby Unveils Name and Logo of New Franchise – the Dallas Jackals
Major League Rugby (MLR), which is only in its third professional season in the United States, has announced the unveiling of its latest Dallas franchise.
Based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, commonly referred to as DFW, the Dallas Jackals will join the Austin Gilgronis and Houston Sabercats as the third team to be based in Texas.
Being led by an investment group that includes sports executives Neil Leibman and Donnie Nelson, the team will play at the 49,5000-capacity Globe Life Park, most recently home of the XFL Renegades and former home of the Texas Rangers baseball team.
“The city of Dallas has been ready to welcome an MLR team for several years now so we are ecstatic that the Dallas Jackals are on board for 2021. The Dallas Jackals have the recipe for success in MLR – an extremely knowledgeable and experienced ownership group, plans for a stadium, and a mission for youth and community engagement,” says MLR Commissioner, George Killebrew.
Starting with only seven teams in 2018, the MLR now consists of 13 teams with the most recent additions of the LA Giltinis and Dallas Jackals.
The latter’s logo has been created by Dallas-headquartered design firm, Torch Creative.
