Audi Launches New EV Brand in China, Ditches Iconic Four Rings Logo
Audi has introduced a fresh EV brand devised specifically for the Chinese car market, which remains the largest in the world.
Called “AUDI” – minus the traditional four rings logo but spelled in four capital letters – the ‘new’ name is claimed to signal “both the connection to and differentiation from the sister brand”.
The name and logo have officially debuted on the 435-mile range, 745 bhp “AUDI E” estate concept car, offering a glimpse of what the brand’s first production model will look like.
Scheduled to hit the roads in 2025, the vehicle will be among three new models that will carry the “AUDI” name.
“By launching this new brand for electric and intelligent models in China, Audi is breaking new ground to tap into new and more tech-savvy customer segments,” reckons Audi CEO, Gernot Döllner.
The new EV venture is the latest output of the German marque’s long-sanding relationship with Chinese-state owned car manufacturer, SAIC.
“The automotive industry is undergoing the largest transformation in its history. With our partnerships in China, we are playing a decisive role in this transformation,” adds Döllner.
